Afrocharts - The Best African Music Site for All is Black Song Download

Not so hard once they get the hang of it... now my students, after choosing a song, quickly glance up at the top of the page to see if it's "Grandma's House" or "Dog House" on the right or left, and place their fingers with NO ASSISTANCE from me. WOW.

Just in time for the Christmas holidays, this song may be familiar already to your students. I like to prepare students for folk or traditional songs by warning them that it might sound "different" from other versions.

Because this is a "folk" tune, every region or country where this song is known might use slightly different - or VERY different - notes! This is only half of the piece, but it is probably enough to satisfy your little beginners.

I prefer for them to sing the song lyrics, but also to be able to count the notes. Usually, we will practice a new song with "drumsticks" (pencils) on the piano lid as we sing, alternating hands as the song calls for one hand or the other.

This next piece, Morning Sun Upon the Mountains, has a bit of an old-timey hymn-like flavor. The chords formed by using 2 notes at a time have a happy sound, just like the simple lyrics. This song has two pages!

I think they like that these songs have a VERY SHORT learning curve! In fact, once they understand hand placement, some of the songs can be played instantly. Then they can pay more attention to counting...

Music Alphabet Song - from A,B, & C in the left hand, through C, D, E, F, & G in the right hand, this song travels scale-wise through all the notes, to help a logical thinker conquer this concept.

This beautiful song book for piano & voice "Esther, For Such a Time as This", available as a digital download, tells the riveting story of the time when Jews in ancient Persia faced a foe named Haman, and how a brave young queen risked her life to save her people.

And when they start reading white-key notes on the staff, this is a fun easy resource to say each week, "Choose a new black-key song at home this week and figure it out to show me next lesson!" They will be spending more time at the piano.

Kim in Washington:My son is hooked...I've been introducing piano to my son on and off for a year or so, but he's not had much interest. Then I gave him "Monsters Everywhere". He loved playing it with the organ sound on our piano. He memorized it that week and I'm printing off the other Halloween songs to keep him going. I love the detailed instructions on teaching since he is my first student! Thanks so much.Dana:That is so neat that your son has experienced the magic and mystery of music through this little song. That is so exciting to me! Thanks for writing, Kim!

Thank you for this post! I totally agree on the importance of taking advantage of the diverse range of styles in worship music. As a black American church musician, I appreciate your openness to check out other styles and incorporate them when possible. I strive to do the same: )

Love the song, Every Praise. Hezekiah Walker singing it. Awesome! We sing it in Timberlake Church of God in Fayetteville, NC. It was off the wall! God always moved greatly in it. The Pastor and his wife were both powerful singers! The heavens would roll back and we would be in the Throne Room Praising God! So happy to find This Black Gospel Music with Hezekiah Walker. He truly knows how to worship the Lord and bring you into His presence.

Verminous is The Black Dahlia Murder's most dynamic, rousing and emotional release to date, and it achieves this without compromising one iota of heaviness. "I think this is the biggest evolutionary leap we've ever taken from one album to the next. We stoked the creative fires with 2017's 'Nightbringers' and it's gone much further now in 'Verminous'," states vocalist Trevor Strnad. "It's a very colorful, moody, and charismatic album that experiments with new sounds and ideas without losing the cutthroat Black Dahlia edge. There is a lot of minutiae to digest. Plenty of delicious little Easter eggs woven into the fabric of each song. Each one is a living, breathing entity that will stand on its own as some of the best music this band has ever created."

That this is a new phase for The Black Dahlia Murder is apparent as the compellingly filthy opening title track rumbles to life, and the album remains gripping for each of the nine tracks that follow. One of the most immediately evident evolutions is in how anthemic their ninth record is, the band inspiring fist-in-the-air responses, particularly in closing track "Dawn Of Rats". "'Verminous' has got some really huge parts that I'm sure will resonate greatly with our fans. It was definitely intentional on our part - a band can only hope to write a song so good that it would be seen as an anthem." Likewise, there is more melancholy on the record, particularly on "Removal Of The Oaken Stake" and "Sunless Empire", adding another dimension to the band's sound and expanding the dark sonic palette with which they paint, all of this coming naturally. "As usual, there was no discussion nor preemptive planning going into the album. We prefer to keep things completely organic and just let the music flow when the time is right. We just write what we write. I do however think it's been an underlying goal for the last several years to make more diverse music. We want an album to feel like a wild ride. A journey from beginning to end that has peaks and valleys."

The Black Eyed Peas released their sixth studio album, The Beginning, in November 2010. The first single from the album, "The Time (Dirty Bit)", reached number 1 on the UK Singles Chart on December 12.[9] The second single was "Just Can't Get Enough", and it was released in February 2011. The album's third single was "Don't Stop the Party", and it was released in May 2011. In 2015, they celebrated their 20th anniversary and released the songs "Awesome" and "Yesterday". Today, the group has sold approximately 35 million albums and 120 million singles worldwide.[10] Following Fergie's departure from the band in 2016, they released three albums: Masters of the Sun Vol. 1 in 2018, Translation in 2020, and Elevation in November 2022.

If you want to hint at taking a walk down the aisle, play this song. R&B singers Eric Benét and Tamia belt out their desire to spend their lives with their sweethearts in this quintessential wedding tune.

"Take a little walk to the edge of town..." the low tones of Nick Cave's voice have become synonymous with BBC's Birmingham-based gangster drama, Peaky Blinders. Cave's music features prominently in the drama: on top of his track Red Right Hand, the show's theme, at least 14 of his songs have featured across the series. And that doesn't take into account the several remixes and covers of Red Right Hand peppered throughout...

The series is packed with expertly curated musical moments, with songs from the likes of The White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys, Johnny Cash, Radiohead and PJ Harvey popping up here and there. With such great music, it's not too surprising that they've decided to launch a Peaky Blinders music festival co-curated by show creator Steven Knight where fans will be able to revel in the music and meet some of the cast and creators.

The precursor to black Gospel music is the African American spiritual, which had already been around for well over a century before Gospel music began its rise to popularity starting in the 1930s. Songs written by African American composers in the decades following emancipation that focused on biblical themes and often drew from spirituals were the source for the development of Gospel. An example is "De Gospel Cars," by the popular composer Sam Lucas.

The shift from spirituals to Gospel is evident in the recordings of African American religious songs recorded in the 1930s and 1940s. The Holloway High School Quartet of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, recorded by John W. Work, III in 1941, provides an example of a traditional spiritual arranged for four-part harmony in "Old ship of Zion," The same group in the same recording session demonstrated the sound of Gospel, as they sang an updated version of an old spiritual, "Daniel saw the stone."

Thomas Dorsey teamed up with vocalist Mahalia Jackson (1912 - 1972) who, like him, had been exposed during her formative years to the Baptist church and the sounds of blues artists like Bessie Smith (through an aunt's record collection). Together, Dorsey and Jackson bypassed the establishment and took their new Christian sound to the street corners of Chicago and elsewhere around the country. Jackson sang Dorsey's songs while the composer hawked copies of his sheet music.

Although singers like Aretha Franklin had introduced Gospel style songs to the pop charts with songs like "Think" in 1968, church-centric Gospel music began to cross over into the mainstream following the release in 1969 of the recording of "O Happy Day" by the Edwin Hawkins Singers, a mixed-gender Gospel chorus based in the San Francisco Bay area. The song, which was based on a mid-eighteenth century English hymn sold more than a million copies in two months (well above average for a Gospel recording) and earned its composer, Edwin Hawkins (born 1943) his first of four Grammy Awards.
